worked last year

I live in Cardiff and did get work. But last year, just 1 job and paid fee, this year again 1 job to take their fee, then lots of “shoutouts, followed by released” but nothing. Just look at their bad ratings, 20%,

My Go-To Agency!

I’ve been an SA with Phoenix Casting Agency for approximately two years and they are, by far, my favourite agency to work with. Not only have they consistently provided jobs for me, but whenever I have questions, the entire team is readily available to chat and help. The level of communication they maintain is unparalleled. I cannot endorse this agency enough. I appreciate their professionalism and support!

A joy to work with

I’ve been with Phoenix since July 2019 – getting on for five years now – and the agency has consistently gotten me a great deal of work in that time period, whether it be as a villager, vampire, police officer or any of the hundreds of roles they have gotten me in between. Communication is key in this business, especially when you’re first starting out and unsure of what to do or where to go, and Phoenix gives artistes booked through them all the information they need in a concise yet eloquent manner. If I’m waiting to hear back about a booking then they will keep me in the loop before I have even had to think about giving them a nudge – I do wish the world of literature, which I’m also involved in, was the same! Whenever I’ve had to phone up or email the office however they have been most helpful in either answering my query promptly or giving me the correct information to resolve the problem.

I have also met many incredible people through this line of work that I am now lucky enough to call friends (the social aspect of it can’t be overrated) and I am honestly yet to hear of anyone having a bad experience with Phoenix. Overall, I couldn’t recommend Phoenix Casting Agency enough.

Great Agency

Phoenix are a great agency to be part of and I have been really fortunate to work for them over the last few years! They are professional, friendly and great at communicating. They are also great at updating us with any changes that may occur before or during a shoot.

Excellent

Excellent. The best supporting artist agency in the West. Timely communication, quick notification of booking or release and payment within weeks rather than months. I wish all agencies were like this.

Not Supposed to Pick Favourites, but…

As an SA for nearly 2 years now I’m confident in saying Phoenix Casting are the gold-standard for SA agencies. An approachable and endlessly helpful team, fast and reliable payment, and a brilliant AV system – seriously, all agencies ought to have a Maybe option when you respond to an enquiry. I’m always proud to represent them on a booking. I don’t mind paying the book fee with Phoenix because I get enough offers of work through them that it’s absolutely worth one slightly underpaid day for what else comes after. If you’re in the South West and Wales, get onto Phoenix!

Horrible staff, disorganised agency, might not ever pay you or months delayed

Yesterday I replied to there never ending text message requests 4 times in one day saying yes to a fitting for extra work in Birmingham and then received a RELEASED notification before midnight. I woke up to rude emails demanding why I wasn’t there for the fitting and demanding I come in for the fitting today and then a fitting instead tomorrow. At no point did they apologise for the miscommunication and disorganisation which would have been sufficient. I ignored them after that as I have had enough with this horrible agency and received many phone calls which I ignored (I presumed they wouldn’t have been pleasent). they have since sent me an email saying I’m off there booking and their agency books entirely, I can’t login either. I had to join equity in 2021 to get them to pay me and the equity representative told me that phoenix casting sometimes don’t pay people at all and phoenix is well known for it. The agency treat you as if you should be thankful to be an extra and that asking for pay months after the filming is a rude annoyance. Since I joined equity I got no work with phoenix and they heavily advice all extras while on set and at fittings that equity isn’t necessary. I let the equity membership lapse to see what would happen and removed the equity details from my profile and I suddenly was offered extra work again. Horrible narcissistic staff, very disorganised agency because they use badly paid graduates on set (I’ve seen the job advertised on indeed for £12 an hour) which I felt sorry for as they are usually overworked. Perhaps I’ve not articulated this properly but I advise you to stay away

Worked for them twice before Covid

Worked for them twice before Covid. Took 14 weeks to pay me. No other company takes so long.Every excuse, hadn’t received the money from the production company, there was no one in the office to sign the cheques, the owner of the company who was the only one who COULD sign the cheques had Australian flu. They got very nasty when I compIained at least the young man did. The women weren’t too bad. Got fed up and said so and we parted by mutual agreement. Only checked them now to see if tney had survived Coivd or gone bust. Wouldn’t touch them again with barge pole

Our assessment after analyzing reviews

Below are the analyze and conclusion of us about above reviews

The initial statement written by the website owner is a standard marketing blurb, detailing the services they offer. It presents Phoenix Casting as a professional agency providing talent for various media productions. There’s nothing inherently suspicious in this statement; it’s purely promotional.

Review 1 (leo): This review paints a negative picture. The user reports infrequent work, despite paying a fee. The “shoutouts” followed by being “released” suggests a bait-and-switch tactic, where potential opportunities don’t materialize. The low rating (1/5) and accusation of being “scammers” are significant red flags. The user references a low overall rating percentage, suggesting a widespread negative perception.

Review 2 (Tim Sykes): This is another negative review highlighting a lack of success in securing work. Being cast only once in three years, despite actively responding to opportunities, points to inefficiency or a flawed casting process. The user’s decision to seek other employment suggests disillusionment with the agency’s effectiveness. The lack of response to “shout outs” raises concerns about the agency’s communication and selection practices.

Review 3 (Jodie): This review is overwhelmingly positive, contradicting the previous negative ones. Jodie praises Phoenix Casting as their “go-to agency,” highlighting consistent job opportunities, excellent communication, and readily available support. The reviewer emphasizes the agency’s professionalism and endorses them strongly. It’s worth noting the enthusiastic tone, which could be genuine, but also potentially biased.

Review 4 (Sophie Curtis): This review is concise but positive, emphasizing the agency’s responsiveness to emails and issues. While brief, it contributes to the narrative of good communication, a stark contrast to some of the negative experiences.

Review 5 (Consumer): This is a highly detailed and positive review. The user claims to have been with Phoenix since 2019 and reports consistently receiving a “great deal of work.” They praise the agency’s clear and informative communication, proactive follow-up, and helpfulness in resolving issues. The reviewer also highlights the social aspect and claims to have not heard of anyone having a bad experience, which seems unlikely given the other negative reviews. The length and specific details provided add weight to the review, but the overly positive tone raises a slight suspicion of potential bias.

Review 6 (Gezza): This review is succinct and positive, highlighting clear and concise “calls” (likely casting calls) and a long-term relationship with the agency since 2013. The strong recommendation further contributes to the positive feedback.

Review 7 (student): This review describes Phoenix as a “great agency” with professionalism, friendliness, and excellent communication. The reviewer appreciates the agency’s updates on changes before or during shoots.

Review 8 (Nick Joy): This review praises Phoenix as the “best supporting artist agency in the West,” emphasizing timely communication, quick notifications, and prompt payment. The reviewer wishes all agencies were like this, indicating a high level of satisfaction.

Review 9 (S Thomas): This review focuses on the agency’s consistent professionalism, organization, and support. The reviewer highlights the ease and straightforwardness of the casting process and the amazing communication. The high recommendation reinforces the positive sentiment.

Review 10 (Claire Cairns): A brief but enthusiastic review, calling Phoenix Casting “Extra Special” and recommending them to anyone seeking supporting artist work in Wales and the South West of England.

Review 11 (Watkins): This review uses the phrase “First Class” to describe the agency, praising the staff, booking system structure, and personal approach. The reviewer expresses gratitude for the agency’s services since 2012.

Review 12 (Dan Flack): This review boasts over 10 years of experience with Phoenix and deems them the “best SA agency out there.” The reviewer highlights the great team, friendliness, knowledge, helpfulness, and professionalism.

Review 13 (Gemma Wolf): The reviewer reports success with jobs they’ve been put forward for, feeling well-looked-after by the friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable team. They also praise the easy-to-navigate online portal.

Review 14 (Matt Brown): This review acknowledges the team’s help in finding walk-on roles over the past 3 years, highlighting clear communication and upfront information on rates.

Review 15 (Mrs Maria Palios-Potts): This review emphasizes the agency’s professionalism, friendliness, and approachability, as well as their support for supporting artists at all levels.

Review 16 (Ben Tedds): This reviewer considers Phoenix Casting the “gold-standard” for SA agencies, praising their approachable and helpful team, fast and reliable payment, and brilliant AV system. They are willing to pay the booking fee due to the consistent work offers.

Review 17 (Mr Martin J Fox): This review describes Phoenix as a “good, solid Extras agency” with an easy-to-navigate profile webpage and easy job offer acceptance through text messages.

Review 18 (Chester Clarke): This is a scathing negative review. The user describes “horrible staff” and a “disorganized agency,” alleging potential non-payment or delayed payment. The reviewer claims to have had to involve Equity (a union) to get paid and that Phoenix is “well known” for non-payment. The user also alleges that joining Equity resulted in a lack of work from Phoenix. The reviewer advises others to “stay away.” This review raises serious concerns about the agency’s ethical practices and payment policies.

Review 19 (Julia Wright): Another negative review focusing on very slow payment (14 weeks) and multiple excuses for the delay. The reviewer describes a negative interaction with staff and vows never to work with them again.

Review 20 (Mike): This review simply states that the agency “used to be good” but is no longer, citing poor setup, terrible casting process, and unprofessional staff. This is a concise but significant negative assessment.
